The Almonte General Hospital/Fairview Manor Board has 12 elected members and four non-voting members in
accordance with Public Hospitals Act Regulation 965.
The elected members can serve a maximum of three, three-year terms and the terms are staggered to
ensure continuity on the board.
The four non-voting members include the President and CEO, the Chief of Staff, the President of
the Medical staff and the Chief Nursing Officer.
Members of the senior management team also attend Board meetings, which are held every other month from
September to June. Special meetings can be - and are - held during July and August at the call
of the Chair.
All Board meetings are open to the public and the Board goes in-camera when considering matters
relating to personnel, property or clinical issues relating to patient care.
One of the Board's standing committees is a Nominating Committee, which is charged with recruiting
nominees to stand for election to the Board on an annual basis. The Chair of the Nominating
Committee is the Past Chair of the Board.

Randy Larkin - Board Chair
Randy Larkin is the Assistant Deputy Minister, Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer at the Department of Finance.
Over 25 plus years in the federal public service Randy has had a rewarding career and the opportunity to work in areas such as: tax administration;
social program delivery; business development in scientific research and development; major IM/IT and telecommunications project implementations;
organizational transformation and renewal; strategic and corporate planning; and financial management.
Randy is a Certified Public Accountant – Certified Management Accountant (CPA, CMA), and has a B.A. in Economics and Political Science.
Ingrid Kadoke - Vice Chair
Ingrid Kadoke has over 25 years of business experience. She brings well-honed insights as a community-centered management consultant, strategic thinker and mother.
Her design background and project management experience give her the capacity to add value to governance discussions and priority setting at the Board of the Almonte General Hospital.
Ms. Kadoke began her career working in her family’s Toronto based exhibit business.
She eventually moved to a freelance career serving Canadian government departments and agencies as well as global marketing companies.
Ms. Kadoke specializes in producing major expositions and events both in Canada and internationally.
Her expertise is in advocating cutting edge design solutions, providing expert direction and embedding sound financial management practices.
Ms Kadoke has lived, worked, played and participated in Mississippi Mills for over 20 years.
Michael Leonard - Vice Chair
Dr Leonard received his undergraduate medical degree from Queen's University at Kingston in 1983 and undertook his Urology training in the same institution.
After completing his residency training in 1988 he started a two year Paediatric Urology fellowship at John's Hopkins University in Baltimore with Dr Robert Jeffs.
He is currently a Full Professor and Paediatric Urologist at CHEO / University of Ottawa.
Dr Leonard was President of Medical Staff and Chief of Staff at CHEO, and thus has had significant hospital board experience.
Dr Leonard has served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Urology, Journal of Paediatric Urology and the Canadian Urological Association Journal.
He has been Chair of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Urology Examination Committee, President of the Canadian Academy of Urological Surgeons
and Paediatric Urologists of Canada, and is currently President-Elect of the Canadian Urological Association.
He and his wife Valerie have been residents of Lanark County since 1999, and live on a hobby farm near Franktown.
Mary Wilson Trider - Secretary
Mary has been the President & CEO of Almonte General Hospital since October 2010. She previously held Vice President positions in several hospitals in the GTA.
Mary has been active in numerous committees at the Ontario Hospital Association and the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.
She currently sits on the H-SAA Steering Committee as an OHA representative and on the MoHLTC’s Committee on Working funds Deficits and Small Hospitals Working Group.
She is a member of the Champlain LHIN Healthy Foods Leadership Task Force.
A graduate of Queen’s University, Mary is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario, the Canadian College of Health Leaders and the American College of Healthcare Executives.
She is a member of the Queen’s University Board of Trustees and the Boards of Directors of Ontario 211 Services Corporation and Thirteen Strings Chamber Orchestra.
She is Past Chair, United Way of York Region and Past Vice-Chair, Booth Centennial Healthcare Linen Services.
Faith Bird graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1981 and began her nursing career in Sault Ste. Marie. With her husband and 2 daughters they moved to Brockville in 1986 & Faith worked as a Public Health Nurse serving the Leeds, Grenville & Lanark areas. In 1997, she joined her husband in the franchise grocery business, No Frills, first in Brockville and now, currently in Arnprior. Since moving to Almonte in 2008, Faith and her family have built & presently operate a Hunter-Jumper Equestrian facility. Faith served for many years on the Board of Director of Family & Children’s Services of Leeds & Grenville (Brockville), Lanark (Perth) and then the amalgamated agency of Family & Children’s Services of Lanark, Leeds & Grenville, serving terms as President for both boards. Faith was appointed on the AGH Board of Directors in 2016.
Dr. Christiane Deschenes
Dr. Louise Heslop is a Distinguished Research Professor and Professor Emerita in the Sprott School of Business at Carleton University and remains active in PhD supervision and research.
She holds a Ph.D. in Business from the Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario.
During her career in university teaching, research and administration, she held senior university administrative positions as Director and as Associate Dean of the
Sprott School of Business and of the Faculty of Social Sciences. She has served on numerous industry and business academic associations.
She has a background of over 40 years as an active volunteer contributor in local and regional community committees and functions.
She is currently a member of the Executive of the Board of Valley Heartland CFDC and of the Ontario Trillium Foundation regional Grant Review Team.
She is passionate about the value of primary health care in Mississippi Mills and has previously served as an AGH Board member and Chair and member of the AGH-FVM Foundation Board.
She and her husband have owned a farm in Ramsay for over 30 years.
Cindy Hobbs has spent the last 25 years working in the financial industry and is currently the branch manager at RBC Almonte.
She has built an extensive knowledge base in the area of people management and financial advice.
She has been an active volunteer in the business community, was president of the Carleton Place Chamber of Commerce and currently sits on the board of the Mississippi Mills Chamber of Commerce.
She is active in many charitable fundraising activities in the area including the Lanark Food Bank and a number of United Way funded organizations and joined the Almonte General Hospital Board in 2012.
Cindy is a native of this area and has been proud to raise her family here.
Nahanni brings almost 20 years of experience in academic and healthcare communications and marketing, including a decade with national healthcare provider organizations. She has a BSc from McGill University and is a certified professional coach. She was inspired to give back to the hospital following the excellent care she received during and after childbirth. Nahanni lives in Stittsville with her husband and two children.
Susan Muston and family arrived in Canada from England in 1986 and have lived in Almonte ever since. During her career, Susan worked in several roles in the avionics software industry latterly leading software test teams. This work included choosing, customizing and managing off-the-shelf and custom IT software packages.
For many years, Susan has been a volunteer with particular interest in supporting medical charities and organizations. As a member of CHEO auxiliary and a volunteer at AGH as the hospital shop buyer, an in-service volunteer on the Rosamond wing and 8 years on the AGH board. In 2012 and 2013, Susan chaired the Finance and Audit Committee. Now retired, Susan has been re-elected for a 1yr term on the AGH Board.
Dave is a retired Hewlett Packard executive with over 30 years in the high tech industry. He is past president of the Canadian Information Processing Society, past Chair of the Public Sector Business Committee of the Information Technology Association of Canada and past President of the Kanata, Goulbourn and West Carleton Chamber of Commerce. He is a frequent lecturer at Algonquin College in the areas of business, marketing and leadership skills.
He resides in Almonte and is a serving Board member of the Ottawa Valley Hunt while assisting his wife with her real estate business.
Marc St. Louis
Marc and his family have settled in the Carp area after growing up in the Ottawa Valley and attending the University of Western Ontario in London. Since finishing a degree in Electrical Engineering Marc entered the High Tech field in Ottawa and is now the Vice President of Security at Pythian Inc. With 15 years of IT security, IT auditing and IT Management experience Marc looks forward to serving the board and the exciting technology projects the hospital has planned.
Paul Virgin is the past chairman of the Almonte General Hospital Board, having served since 2005.
He has participated in most of the board committees including chairing the Quality Committee and Finance Committee.
He has a degree in Economics from Wilfrid Laurier University and has served on many community organizations including the North Lanark Highland Games,
and Dr. James Naismith Foundation, both of which he chaired. Paul currently serves as a director on the Mississippi River Power Corporation,
and previously was a member of the national board of The Life Underwriters Association of Canada, now known as Advocis which has over 18,000 members.
He is active in his local golf club and, along with his wife Rhonda, who is also an active hospital volunteer, has four children and one granddaughter.
Paul is the owner of Virgin Insurance Associates, a local life insurance and segregated fund business in Almonte.
