Medical/Surgical Department
The Almonte General Hospital has 21 medical and surgical beds for in-patients requiring acute care. The interdisciplinary care team provides care for patients of all ages, from neonates to the elderly, requiring a diverse mix of skills. Members of the team include your attending physician, the nursing staff, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, pharmacist, discharge planner and community access coordinator.
From admission to discharge, the team’s goal is to optimize an individual’s own abilities, promote a safe transition back into the community and ensure that follow-up services are in place. The team also ensures that compassionate and skilled palliative care is available for patients who require that level of care.
Currently, recovery room services are provided within the e Medical-Surgical Unit, where post-operative patients are monitored until stable enough to return home.
AGH has embraced technological advances to enhance patient care and will soon be offering access to telehealth sessions with physicians in Ottawa or Perth/Smith Falls for assessment and/or teaching, reducing the need for the patient to physically travel to those sites for some types of treatment.
