Obstetrical Unit
The Almonte General Hospital (AGH) Obstetrical Unit has been providing excellent obstetrical care to mothers and babies for generations. The Hospital’s highly trained doctors and nurses, modern birthing facilities, and smaller size combine state-of-the-art obstetrical services with exceptional personal care and attention.
The AGH Obstetrical Unit provides outstanding care at every stage of pregnancy and birth. AGH is the only rural hospital in this region providing a full range of obstetrical services, including 24-hour, 7-day-a-week coverage by an obstetrician and round-the-clock anaesthetic/epidural services.
The Hospital's OBS team includes two full-time Obstetrician/Gynecologists - Dr. Michel Prevost and Dr. Karen Stillman. Their offices are located at 46 Spring St., in the building formerly occupied by Dr. John King. Drs. Prevost and Stillman can be reached at 256-7388. On-call OBS services are provided by Dr. Juan Stocker. Other members of the OBS physician team include Dr. Heather Abramenko, Dr. Chris Deschenes, and Dr. Anne Oldfield of Almonte and Dr. William Potvin from the Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital. Anaesthesia services for the program are provided by Dr. Michael Dolan, Dr. Franz Ferraris and Dr. Heather Abramenko.

The nurses who work in the Obstetrical Unit are experienced in caring for labouring women, post-partum mothers and newborn babies.
The Hospital plans to further enhance its obstetrical program as part of the AGH/Fairview Manor Redevelopment Project. This will include five private rooms, a family room, two labour and delivery rooms, a surgical suite for Caesarean Sections and an open nursing station.
