Welcome to the Almonte General Hospital

Almonte General Hospital Rated a Top Performer in Annual Province-wide Report

The Almonte General Hospital was ranked a top performing hospital in the province by the National Research Corporation Canada in their annual Patient Experience Report.

The survey reports on “Patient Ratings of Overall Care and Likelihood to Recommend”. The categories that applied to AGH included Acute Inpatient Care, Emergency Department, and Maternity Care.

AGH is the top performer in Ontario for Maternity Care, earning 100%, in the overall care rating and likelihood to recommend at 94%. Thirty-nine hospitals were rated in this category. This is the second consecutive year that AGH achieved this distinction.

The Emergency Department at AGH placed in the top 10 percent of 129 hospitals in Ontario for overall care and likelihood to recommend. AGH achieved the same distinction for likelihood to recommend in the Acute Care Inpatient category, which included 104 hospitals.

The Almonte General Hospital has been providing excellent medical care to area residents for generations. The Hospital's dedicated and highly trained doctors and nurses, modern facilities and smaller size combine state-of-the-art services with the personal care and attention that only a small community hospital can provide. The 52-bed Hospital provides an extensive range of services, including 24-hour emergency services, a complete range of obstetrical care and the Region's Continuing Care and Day Hospital programs.

Two Hospitals. One Goal. The very best care close to home.

Almonte General Hospital (AGH) and Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital (CPDMH) have a history of collaboration. The two hospitals are now forming stronger ties with a single goal: better care.

As part of this new partnership, the Mississippi River Health Alliance has been created to support ongoing planning. As well, the two hospitals will share a President and Chief Executive Officer. Mary Wilson Trider will assume the role in September 2016, at the time of Toni Surko’s retirement as CPDMH’s Chief Executive Officer.

The hospitals have been working closely with the Champlain Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) to develop this plan. The plan will be presented to the Champlain LHIN Board at their April 27th meeting.
