Visitors
Visiting hours at the Almonte General Hospital are noon to 8 p.m. for the Medical-Surgical Unit and Rosamond Unit and 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. for the Obstetrical Unit.
Children are allowed to visit patients, except in the Obstetrical Unit, where only the newborn baby’s siblings may visit.
Patients should not have more than two visitors at a time, in order to avoid becoming tired and to avoid disturbing other patients. For the same reasons, visits should be limited to 30 minutes.
The Almonte General Hospital reserves the right to restrict visiting when a patient’s condition warrants or when other factors, such as an outbreak of influenza, makes visiting inappropriate.
Any exceptions to these rules must be approved by the Charge Nurse of the unit.
Clergy of several religious denominations visit patients in the Almonte General Hospital. If you wish to be visited by a member of the clergy, please inform the admissions clerk or a nurse.
If you are sick, please do not visit a patient in the hospital. Patients can be placed at great risk if germs are brought in and spread in the hospital. Therefore, if you have a fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat, diarrhea or a new rash or are otherwise unwell, you should stay home or see your doctor.
Washing your hands with soap or using the hand gel in the Hospital is the very best way of limiting the spread of germs, even if you are feeling well. So, please wash your hands when you enter and leave the Hospital.
There is no smoking permitted anywhere in the Almonte General Hospital. Visitors who wish to smoke must do so outside, at least 30 feet from the Hospital’s entrance.
Do not use cellular phones inside the Hospital, as they can affect the proper functioning of medical equipment. A pay phone is available in the main lobby and on the second floor.
Gifts, cards and other items may be purchased in the Hospital Gift Shop, located in the main lobby. A public cafeteria is located on the main level and is open seven days a week from 7:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. A hot lunch is served from 11:45 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Vending machines are located outside the cafeteria.
To obtain a patient’s phone number, please call the Hospital switchboard at 256-2500.
