Quality Care For Life

The Almonte General Hospital/Fairview Manor Foundation has launched the Quality Care For Life capital campaign to raise funds for the Almonte General Hospital (AGH)/Fairview Manor (FVM) Redevelopment Project.

The $29-million Redevelopment Project will see a new 112-bed long-term care facility built on land adjacent to the Hospital. The Project also includes the expansion of AGH’s emergency and ambulatory care departments, renovations to its in-patient care department and new equipment for the X-ray and medical-surgical departments. The Hospital, new long-term care facility and existing Fairview Manor will be connected by a covered link, in order to facilitate ease of movement by patients, residents, visitors, volunteers and staff. The new long-term care facility and AGH will share administrative and support services and the existing Manor will be used for other purposes.

The new and upgraded facilities will provide integrated health-care services at every stage of life, at one location. They will help attract and retain the best health-care professionals. They will ensure the long-term viability of the Hospital and Manor, protecting more than 250 full- and part-time jobs and making our community an attractive place to live, work and raise a family.

Co-Location of Facilities

A unique feature of the Redevelopment Project is a 15,000-square-foot covered link connecting the Hospital, new long-term care facility and existing Manor, permitting patients, residents, staff and visitors to travel easily from one building to another and maximizing the sharing of administrative and support services.

This co-location of facilities is being promoted by the provincial government as a model for other jurisdictions to follow.

The existing Manor, which is no longer up to required standards for a long-term care facility, will be redeveloped for other uses. The community will be asked for its input, when the time comes, as to the best and most efficient use of the present Manor.

Quality and Efficiency

Fully accredited, the Almonte General Hospital and Fairview Manor are deficit-free and receive outstanding quality and efficiency ratings from the province, patients and residents.

$4-Million Campaign For Our Future

The Redevelopment Project is being financed through contributions from the Province of Ontario, the County of Lanark, the Almonte General Hospital and community fundraising. The $4-million Quality Care For Life campaign has been launched to raise funds for the local share. The Almonte General Hospital and Fairview Manor have contributed to the quality of life in our community and region for generations. Your investment in the campaign will preserve and enhance these precious facilities - today, and for years to come.

If you or your loved ones have ever needed the services of the Almonte General Hospital or Fairview Manor, you know how important it is to have high-quality health and long-term care services close to home. We ask you to consider how the Redevelopment Project will enhance the quality of life for our community – perhaps for you, or someone close to you.

The Redevelopment Project will upgrade and modernize the Hospital, permitting it to continue to provide excellent care and a full range of services, including emergency and obstetrical care. It will maintain a long-term care facility in northern Lanark County, ensuring our seniors continue to have the best possible care in up-to-date, pleasant surroundings, instead of perhaps being forced to move away.

Hospital services in our community go back more than 100 years. Fairview Manor has been home to hundreds of seniors for more than 25 years. Over the decades, hospital and long-term care services have changed. But in our community we have always been able to count on one thing – the outstanding care provided by the Almonte General Hospital and Fairview Manor.
